Why the Wild Goose? Though the symbols of wind, fire, oil and a dove are more commonly used to represent the Holy Spirit, the Celtics chose to use the Wild Goose. We decided to take that concept of the Wild Goose to show that, just as a flock of geese is pulled in the draft of the leader, so we at Prayer Plan Missions place ourselves in the draft of the Holy Spirit, following Him wherever He leads us to minister. It is proving to be quite a journey!
In the beginning we started working in the mountain village of Chaguitillos. It has now become a beachhead for our ministry which reaches out to the villages in that area. We have constructed a dormitory and kitchen there so that we can host teams and hold events.
Now the Wild Goose/Holy Spirit has led us into ministry in the city of San Pedro Sula. A door finally opened for outreach in the bordos – the communities built on the banks of the city’s rivers.
Whether in the villages in the mountains or the bordos in the city, it is our desire to come alongside the local people to help them improve their communities, and to reach out with the relationship building Gospel of Christ. It has been exciting to connect people from the city churches in Honduras with people from the mountain churches, and to bring Honduran dentists and doctors, preachers and school teachers, to cross-cultural ministry within their own country.
When the Wild Goose brings North Americans our way, our desire is to challenge them to a closer walk in Christ’s footsteps both through contact with Honduran believers on short term mission trips and through the content of the newsletter we publish.
