1. Purpose & Goals

The Prayer Plan Missions Internship in Honduras is a 3–12 month immersive experience designed to combine preparation in the U.S. with hands-on service in Honduras. Interns will grow in faith, leadership, and cross-cultural ministry while serving alongside Prayer Plan Missions staff and Honduran leaders.

Our Goals for Interns:
- Deepen their walk with Christ through intentional discipleship.
- Gain practical experience in support raising, scheduling, and team leadership.
- Serve Honduran families, churches, and communities with humility.
- Experience cultural immersion that builds Relationships and global awareness.
- Discover personal calling and develop as a servant leader.

2. Core Components

A. Training & Orientation (U.S. Phase)

Interns begin with a preparation period at home:

  1. Support Raising: Guidance in sharing vision and building a prayer and financial support team.
  2. Ministry Foundations: Training in missions, discipleship, and cross-cultural awareness.
  3. Team Preparation: Introduction to planning schedules, logistics, and communication for mission teams.
  4. Leadership Development: Servant leadership, problem-solving, and ministry planning skills.
  5. Local ministry involvement to practice lessons before departure.
B. Ministry Involvement (Honduras Phase)

In Honduras, interns will serve in Chaguitillos and surrounding villages through:

  1. Children & Youth Ministry Bible clubs, discipleship, and sports outreach.
  2. Widows & Families Care – Visiting homes with food, prayer, and encouragement.
  3. Church Partnership – Supporting pastors, teaching, and discipling believers.
  4. Community Projects – Helping with water systems, construction, and sustainability efforts.
  5. Team Leadership – Working directly with mission team leaders to:
    1. Assist in creating team schedules.
    2. Manage logistics and daily activities.
    3. Lead devotions and group debriefs.
    4. Support team members in cultural adjustment.
C. Spiritual Development
  1. Daily personal devotions and journaling.
  2. Weekly Bible study with staff and missionaries.
  3. Mentorship from Prayer Plan Missions leaders.
  4. Opportunities to lead devotionals, teach, and share testimonies.

D. Cultural Immersion
  1. Living in or near Chaguitillos.
  2. Experiencing Honduran hospitality, food, and daily rhythms of life.
  3. Learning basic Spanish for ministry and community connection.
  4. Developing cross-cultural awareness and adaptability.

E. Leadership Development
  1. Hands-on practice in team planning, leadership, and vision casting.
  2. Growing confidence in teaching, public speaking, and mentoring.
  3. Close guidance from Prayer Plan Missions staff.
  4. Real-world training in both behind-the-scenes logistics and frontline ministry.

3. Structure & Timeline

Duration: 3 months – 1 year 
Phases:
  1. Home Preparation (U.S.) – 4–8 weeks of support raising, training, and mentoring.
  2. On-Field Ministry (Honduras) – 2–10 months of immersive service, leadership, and cultural engagement.
  3. Debrief & Re-entry (U.S.) – Reflection, testimony sharing, and guidance for future ministry.

4. Expectations of Interns

  1. Maintain a teachable spirit and servant’s heart.
  2. Participate fully in training, ministry, and team leadership opportunities.
  3. Respect Prayer Plan Missions staff, Honduran leaders, and community members.
  4. Commit to Prayer Plan Missions’ vision of shaping generations through Kingdom impact.

5.  Debrief & Follow-Up

At the close of the internship, interns will:

  1. Reflect on lessons learned and share testimonies with supporters.
  2. Process the challenges of re-entry into U.S. culture.
  3. Receive mentorship for next steps in ministry or vocational calling.
  4. Stay connected with Prayer Plan Missions for continued opportunities.

6. Potential Outcomes

  1. Confidence in support raising and team leadership.
  2. Practical ministry experience in both U.S. and Honduran contexts.
  3. Stronger personal faith and spiritual maturity.
  4. Cultural awareness and adaptability in cross-cultural settings.
  5. Lifelong relationships with Honduran partners and fellow interns.
  6. Clarity of calling toward long-term ministry or missions.
